The three songs, Ave Maria, Amazing Grace, and Furusato, are arranged in a suite for cello solo and piano accompaniment.

[Program notes] "The request for <3 Songs from far away> by Yoko Hasegawa was to create a suite that was like a bouquet of the melodies of my favorite masterpieces from ancient times to the present, arranged like <12 Songs> written by Toru Takemitsu for guitar.

From several candidate pieces, I chose three pieces (hymns/hymns/songs) to arrange for cello and piano.

It is a sister piece with the same theme as the <3 Hymns (Schubert/Caccini/Sibelius)> that I wrote for Izumi Tateno, and I was also asked to create a melody that "definitely suits the cello!", so I chose <<Hymn: Ave Majesty by Caccini>>. I chose three songs: "Leah", "Hymn: Amazing Grace", and "Song: Hometown".
The reason I named these three songs "from far away" is mainly because of "Hometown", but another reason is that I arranged them in such a way that they are heard "from far away" and disappear "in the distance".
And when I finished arranging them, I realized that they are all songs that make you feel a gaze "from afar" thinking about "something that no longer exists".
It goes without saying that such songs filled with deep love "suit the cello".
